Blanket Fort - Room 32

Courtesy of Collins, there is an abundant supply of food from the restaurant in Santa Fe.

There are cushions, blankets, and plenty of space in which to stretch out.

Outside the door is a sign: This is a Tofu-Free Zone.

And the door is unlocked.

Same with April - she's definitely a girl, but... not girly.

"Cool." April does, however, have some creativity when it comes to hair. She never braided or put up her own, when it was long, but she did Maureen's hair more than once.

After a moment's consideration, she starts braiding a small section of hair about at Suzi's temple. She'll make this vaguely renaissance, which'll not only be pretty, but it'll keep the hair out of her face and let it be down and show off the curls.

Whee.

...Suzi may actually ask to learn how to do that. "Th-th-thank you, Ap-pril." She says, only a little bit shyly. Mostly due to the stutter, truth be known, Suzi is about as shy as she is repressed. "D-d-did y-you l-lose s-someone t-t-to th-the b-bean c-c-curd?"

"Yeah. Whistler, for one." she shrugs a bit. "I don't know him that well, but we know each other."

She frowns then. "And my friend Matt. Really sweet guy, usually."

Some people might get jealous if a beautiful woman talked about their lover as being lost to a curse. Suzi? Not so much. He changed biology for her. She can share the loss, "H-he's e-easy t-t-to l-like." She says about Whistler, "I d-d-don't k-know th-that I k-know M-m-matt."

"He really is." April nods. "I met him the first day he was in the bar. Really nice guy."

She sighs. "Matt's a police officer. And he can hear people's thoughts. He's really sweet, usually. Helped me deal with some of my issues. I hate seeing him like this."

"I m-met him on d-d-day s-six I w-was h-here." She says very quietly, Then she perks up a bit, "I m-m-met him o-once. M-matt."

April blinks, then laughs softly. "That's the strangest endearment I've ever heard, but it's strangely sweet."

"Yeah?" April grins. "He's really nice. Kind of overwhelmed a lot of the time, because of the thought-hearing thing, but very nice. Usually, anyway."

"W-w-well b-bef-fore h-he t-touched m-me h-he d-d-didn't kn-know th-that th-they w-weren't oct-top-pus t-tent-ta-cles." She points out, and she likes being his cuter than a dead octopus assistant, "N-no-b-body is g-get-ting n-nice und-der th-this st-tuff."

[identity profile] fallen-april.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"That's very true." April starts braiding from the other side of her face now.

It's strange, but she does keep hair ties in her bag, even though she hardly ever pulls her hair back.

Not that strange, really. You want one when you need it, but not to have it in all the time. Suzi's player understands entirely. "N-n-need t-t-to f-f-fix it." She pokes the cellphone he gave her again, nearly violently. That? That is not a present. That's an attempt at pacification.

Re: Blanket Fort!

[identity profile] fallen-april.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"We will. We've got to." April nods and glances at the phone. "Do those things even work here? Matt was complaining about how his had stopped." She shakes her head. "Though I don't know if he'd even HAD one before all this started."

"W-w-whistler b-b-built a t-t-tower?" She has no idea. She pokes the on button and gets...

full service.

April gives a low whistle. "I'll bet it only works for other phones in the bar, but... daaaaamn."

Said in a tone that would make Collins proud.

"H-h-he's...even c-c-crazy h-he's a g-g-genius." She says proudly, then frowns and pokes at the phone, "B-b-but I w-w-want m-my s-s-sm-mar, s-sex-xy, k-k-kink-ky g-genius b-b-back."

April giggles a little. "Sexy and kinky, huh?" she asks. She pulls the braids back to meet at the back of Suzi's head and braids the tails together into one braid.

The typist has done this before. It's very pretty.

With rather a lot of stuttering, but no shame at all, Suzi offers suggestions of activites requiring a bathtub, Devon cream, a non-skid rubber mat, and a triangle of silk exactly half the diameter of one of the participants. If anything she sounds wistful...she'd like to be doing that one again, thank you.

It is a lovely hairstyle!

"Yes, most definitely sexy and kinky." April grins a little. "I'll have to try that some time."

Mmmm, Boromir and Devon cream...

"Uh huh." She misses him. During the recitation with the effects of fosbine in rum, someone doing her hair, and remembering one of her favorite bits of last week, her voice dropped low and most (not all) of the stutter disappeared, "H-he's lovely."

Re: Blanket Fort!

April smiles softly to herself. "I know what you mean." she murmurs.

She closes Ray's book carefully, his warning about the pages is very firm in her mind, and then she sets it aside so that she can cover her eyes with her hands and cry.

Re: Blanket Fort!

[identity profile] fallen-april.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, this is a situation that calls for hugs, certainly.

April wraps her arms around Suzi and holds her. "Hey... it's gonna be okay. We're gonna fix this. We are. He'll be okay..."

Re: Blanket Fort!

[identity profile] sime-channel.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
she manages after a while, leaning heavily on April and clinging to her in return.

Re: Blanket Fort!

[identity profile] fallen-april.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I know you do." April says soothingly. "We'll fix it. You'll have him back before you know it."

Maybe not that quickly, but... well, there are some things you've just got to say.

Re: Blanket Fort!

[identity profile] sime-channel.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
She wants to be soothed. She does, but its hard. She's never been in love before.

Its bad enough when someone leaves you because they don't love you anymore. This? This is ten times worse.

Re: Blanket Fort!

[identity profile] fallen-april.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
April can only imagine.

It's probably even worse, in a way, than having the person you love kill themselves and leave you behind. Not that April knows that feeling either. She was on the other side of that one.

She cuddles her, though. "It's gonna be okay. You're both gonna be okay..." It's a mantra, just repeating it softly in hopes that saying it will help it come true.
