March 31 - The Sidle-Cohen Wedding

Who would choose to marry twice in the same day?

If and when their future children should ask, Sara will just say the first had been a practice run.

Certainly this ceremony has been more highly anticipated than the other.

The weather is beautiful and all other preparations by the lakeside have been taken care of.

Anyone who tries to object will be tied to cement blocks and dumped in the lake.

"I guess we're the first ones here," Mia says to her escort.

"Seems that way. Pity. No one to marvel at our entrance," Draco replied. Dressed nicely, but normally not with green hair, and this particular outfit.

"Well, today is the day for people to marvel at Mark and Sara. They are the ones getting married, after all."

But even Mia will admit that their entrance isn't a bad one. They look pretty good.

"Well, I suppose so. Still nothing wrong with impressing everyone." Draco smiled over at her. It did seem right like this. Briefly wondering how she would look in the Manor's ballroom, at one of the receptions that his parents liked to hold... Or did.

Like a patch of flowers in a field: clearly in a natural habitat yet noticeably pretty. Mia ponders the same subject, how Draco would look at a gathering in the Magic Guild's ballroom.

They might actually get a chance to see.

"You're right, depending on what is done to impress."

She puts the wedding present on a table for them.

"You are pretty impressive, but that's just my opinion. That's probably related to seeing you three different ways in such a short amount of time."

Mia has to keep reminding herself that Draco doesn't normally have green hair.

"I don't think I'm that impressive."

And he would likely relish such an opportunity.

"How clever of you to notice," Draco replied, and he then added with a smile, "And likely only because you can't see how you look to others. Because what I see is very impressive."

She laughs at the first part and blushes at the second.

And Mia says something that Draco has probably never heard a person say about him.

"You are too kind to me."

Draco blinked at that with genuine surprise.

Congratulations, Mia. You've rendered the git speechless.

There is a pause where Mia does nothing but smile at his reaction.

"Come on, we should go find a place to sit for the ceremony."

Draco blinked some more, and then recovered, "Er, yes. Of course."
He then smoothly guided her to some seats.

April arrives in an outfit that is pure artistic spirit. Striped tights, black combat boots, a black sequined skirt, and a colorfully striped sweater. Her hair's pulled back with a white ribbon, and she's practically bouncing.

It was this outfit or a Gondorian dress, and given that this is a bohemian production, she settled on the outfit she wore.

She looks oddly nervous, and it's not even her wedding, and a bit out of place, even though this is for her friends.

Mama Cohen has successfully made her way to Milliways. She's wearing an extremely nice (as it should be, considering what it cost) cream suit, and accompanied by a tiny grand-daughter: Cynthia's youngest-but-one, Jenny, a three-year-old dark-haired person in a pink dress.

Grandchildren, after all, should make themselves useful by providing something she can occupy herself with when nervous. And she's reasonably sure Jenny will forget the occasion quite soon, and won't be believed anyway.

April's not the only one looking nervous. Her... unusual... attire gets a glance over, but Esther knows better than to pass comment. She gives the girl a smile instead.

"Hello, dear."

April smiles widely and gives Esther a hug. "Hey, Mama," she says, and smiles a bit at Jenny. "Who's your friend?"

The little girl is peeping around her grandmother's legs, and meeps a little when Esther is hugged.

"This is Jenny," Mrs Cohen says, smiling. "Mark's sister Cynthia's littlest-but-one. Jenny dear, this is April. Say hello now."

"Hi," says the little girl, peering up at April with wide eyes that bear a strong resemblance to Mark's.

April crouches down to be more on eye-level with Jenny and smiles cheerfully. "Hey there. I'm a friend of your Uncle Mark's. We knew each other in New York."

Hey, the wedding party has to arrive sometime, don't they?

Standing to one side is Mark, hemmed into a corner by a slightly taller man with shaggy blonde hair, wearing a suit which he looks like he'd rather not be in.

"Mark, if you even try to run off, I will tie you to a tree with guitar strings."

".... Ow, Roger, that's rather uncalled for."

"That's why you're staying right here."

"Yes, mommy."

"I'll help," April says firmly, and kisses Mark on the cheek. Roger gets a shy wave. "Hey, you, didn't you do this once already? You should be an old hat by now."

Hugs for the groom are good, right?

Gil is there, of course, holding Georgia comfortably in his arms. Her dress matches the tartan pattern.

Well, Jack's always liked him in kilts, and he will hardly be the only man in a skirt-like garment present.

The mun isn't entirely sure how her tag got eaten, but wishes she'd come looking for it sooner.

In any case, there is a Guppy, who has no objections whatsoever and approaches bearing gifts.

At the appropriate time, Gil sends Georgia on her way down. With each step, flower blossoms lightly cover the area.

"Ready?" He asks Sara, offering his arm.

"Been ready," she replies, taking it.

For anyone else, it would be a bittersweet moment, but for them, it is just right.

Gil escorts Sara down, smiling when she reaches for Mark.

Father Mulcahy is containing the broad smile that threatens to break out every few minutes, if with some difficulty. Weddings are wonderful, and even more so when he has the honor and the pleasure of knowing both the bride and the groom. Does he wink at the two of them? It's hard to say.

"Friends, we have been invited here today to share with Sara and Mark a very important moment in their lives. In the time they have been together, their love and understanding of each other has grown and matured, and now they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife. This is a true commitment that they wish to make, pledging their love to one another, and we are here today to celebrate it."

Mark has been standing awkwardly in the front for about five minutes, due to the fact that Roger wouldn't let him go anywhere, for fear of Mark running off to get his camera.

Roger, however, is grinning like a loon as Mark takes Sara's hand.

From that moment on, Mark has eyes for no one but Sara.

Roger crosses his arms, ready to punch anyone in the face if they try to object.

Father Mulcahy smiles. "Who supports this couple in their marriage?"

"We do," Gil says softly, Georgia back in his arms. A fresh shower of apple blossoms come down from the sky.

Barely a moment after Gil speaks, Roger straightens. "So do I."

It mightn't be the way to do things, but in Roger's world, it's damned important.
