She woke up before Mark and slipped quietly out of their bed. After running a brush through her hair and throwing on a robe, she walked outside of their bedroom.

"Are you sure you don't mind?" she whispered after feeding her daughter.

"Not at all," Collins whispered back, holding her with already-practiced hands. "Me and Miss Laura will be just fine. I'll behave."

"For once."

"You have no faith."

Seeing him walk out the door with her child hurt more than Sara had expected. They'll be at the Inn, she mentally reminded herself, returning to her bedroom. They'll be fine for a couple of days.

She kissed Mark gently on the forehead. "Good morning, Mr. Cohen."

"mmmmm." Mark turned over, and gave Sara a huge grin. "Good morning, Mrs. Cohen." Beat. "I'm still not used to saying that. I love it. And I love you."

"I love you too, and I love hearing that." She climbed back onto their bed, snuggling against him. "Collins is watching Laura for the next couple of days. I've already threatened his life."

He snuggled back, a contented smile on his face. "Oh, really? Hm. That makes things easier." Things? Hmmmm.

"Good to know I wasn't the only one plotting." She seems remarkably unconcerned.

"Oh, no. I'm being plotted against." Mark grins. He doesn't seem concerned either. "Perhaps we should see if our plots cross."

"Well, the first anniversary is supposed to involve freezer-burned wedding cake and some gift of paper. I vote that we get fresh cake."

Mark cracks up, beaming. "If you get the cake, I'll get the paper." He jumps out of bed, a smirk on his face.

"Already done," she smirks back, following him out. "Dare I ask what paper I'll receive?"

Mark dresses quickly, then goes out to his desk without a word. He returns with a rather lumpy package wrapped in brown paper and tied in poorly-developed film from Soul Music.

"I realized long ago that the best presents are the ones you make yourself. So, Mrs. Cohen, as part of your anniversary gift, I give you this." He hands it to her.

Inside is a finished script for Feet of Clay, featuring the Watch's first criminalist.

"......Mark!" There's no denying the surprise or appreciation in Sara's voice. "This is wonderful!" After a brief (but rather deep) kiss of appreciation, she leaves the room and returns with her own wrapped package.

Within it is a casefile, featuring every pertinent development in their relationship, concluding with love and happiness.

The geek is mutual.

Mark looks through it, beaming. Putting it down on a table, he reaches over and pulls Sara to him, kissing her deeply for a long moment. "Now that, my Sara, is a case that I can sincerely hope will never be totally finished. Thank you."

"I have the feeling it will be active for the foreseeable future, if not beyond."

"If I know the way of these silly beyond-time places, it will be active for quite a long time." He grins, kissing her again.

"It'd be no fair for just Collins and Angel to get forever."

"Exactly. Especially because these places like playing Silly Buggers by getting us together in the first place."

"In this case, the geek has gotten the girl. Who is also a geek, and not complaining about it."

Mark beams and kisses her. "I think that's hope for geeks everywhere, don't you?"

"Well, we have to have more going for us than just our intelligence."

"We have some amazing friends, and some frelling good luck."

"There is that, yes. After all we've been through separately, it's about time that we have something good. Together." She kisses him again, stroking the side of his face. "I haven't regretted a single moment."

"Exactly." And for once, I'm glad I'm the one to survive. He just gazes at her for a long moment. "I, for one, think that we've been through the worst of the shit. Mostly because anything in the future will be together."

"We might have to bend, but I'll be damned if we'll break."

"Damn right we won't." Mark kisses her softly. "It's one of those things. We've been through the fire, so we're stronger now."

She snuggles against him and flips open the script. "This really is amazing....I've never had anything like this."

He grins. "It's yours. Any money that comes from it is yours to do what you want with. All I ask is that the actors and production people get their due."

That honestly surprises her into silence for a solid minute.

"Mark....."

"When I told you I was giving it to you, I meant it, Sara." He shrugs. "We have more than enough frelling money around here, and, well, yeah. Do what you want with it."

"Just when I think I know everything about you, you insist on proving how wonderful you are." She leans in tight against his side, her face hidden against his neck. "Assuming it does as well as your others, I'll use the proceeds to make shelters for domestic abuse victims."

He grins, kissing her softly. "I thought you'd do something like that." He wouldn't care if she did something for herself, but he knows his wife. "We'll talk to Joanne about it." Yes, he's passing over her assessment of his worth.

"I mean it," she says softly. "You are wonderful. Beyond wonderful."
